Reading

When Helen Keller was two, she became ill. After she was ill, Helen could smell, touch and taste things but she couldn’t see or hear. She was blind and deaf and she could not speak. Her life was very difficult. In 1887, a teacher, Anne Sullivan, came to help hear. Anne started to teach Helen to spell words with her hands. Helen could make the words with her hands but she could not understand them. One day, Anne put Helen’s hand in water and spelled the word "water" on Helen’s other hand. Suddenly Helen started to understand. Later she learned to read Braille, special writing for the blind. She was also be able to type. Helen became famous for her work for deaf and blind people.
