عند تحية شخص ما نقول Hello بمعنى (مرحباً)، ويرد الشخص بنفس الكلمة Hello
و لتقديم شخص لشخص آخر نقول :
Faten: This is my friend, Sara.
Salma: Hello, Sara
و للسؤال عن بلد شخص ما :
Where's Salma from?
She's from Luxor.

زمن الماضي البسيط
 يستخدم زمن الماضي البسيط للتعبير عن فعل حدث في الماضي وانتهى .
يتم تكوين الفعل في زمن الماضي لبسيط بإضافة ed أو d للفعل المنتهى بـــــ e في حالة الأفعال المنتظمه
look ينظر  looked نظر thank يشكر  thanked شكر
live يعيش  lived عاش invite يدعو  invited دعى

الأفعال الغير منتظمة لها صيغه خاصة بكل فعل (تحفظ) :
go يذهب  went ذهب send يرسل  sent ارسل
take يأخذ  took اخذ see يرى  saw رأى

لاحظ ان V(to be) فـى الماضـى يكـون كمــا يـلــى :

I - He - she - it was
They - we - you were

Yesterday – last – ago هناك بعض الكلمات التى تدل على الماضى البسيط مثل: 
• She sent Mona a postcard yesterday.
• We went to Luxor last week.
• Faten was in Aswan a week ago.
• They were very busy yesterday.

يتكـون المضـارع البسيـط مـن التصـريف الأول للفعـل.
إذا كان فاعل الجملة He/ She / It نضع للفعلS ولا نضيف شئ مع بقية الضمائر.

He - She - It - اسم مفرد
الفعل + S
I - They - We - You -اسم جمع.
الفعل بدون أى اضافات

هنـاك بعـض الكلمـات التـى تـدل علـى المضــارع البسـيط مثــل :
always – sometimes – usually – every

1- I always go to school on foot. 2- She likes fish.
3- Faten sometimes watches TV. 4- They usually play tennis.

والآن تعلـم معــى تصــريــف V(To Be) فــى المضــارع:

I am (`m)

He - She - It is(`s)

They - We - You are(`re)

تذكر معى ان الماضى البسيط هو التصريف الثانى للفعل وان هناك نوعان من الافعال الماضيه : شاذة و عاديه
كما ان الماضى البسيط يعبر عن فعل حدث فى الماضى وانتهى

Irregular verbs أفعال غير منتظمة
see يرى saw رأى
eat يأكل ate أكل

take يأخذ took أخذ

السـؤال عـن زمـن الماضـي البسيـط:

Did + الفاعل + المصدر
Did Ali like school? Did you live in Cairo?
* السؤال الذي يبدأ بكلمة ( Did ) تكون الإجابة عليه بـــ ( Yes / No )
* Yes, he did. * No, I didn't.

يمكن ان نسأل عن الماضى البسيط بكلمة استفهام مثلWhen- Where- What
ويكون ترتيب السؤال كما يلى:
كلمة استفهام + did + الفاعل + المصدر
• Where did you live last year? أين كنت تعيش السنة الماضية ؟
I lived in Tanta.
• What did you do yesterday? ماذا فعلت البارحة؟
I played football.
أدوات الاستفهام
When أداة استفهام بمعنـى (متـى) وتستخدم للســؤال عـن الـزمـن.
When did Shymaa go to Al Fayoum? She went to Al Fayoum last week.

Who أداة استفهام بمعنـى (مــن) وتستخـدم للســؤال عـن الأشخـاص (العاقل).
Who visited the zoo? Amira visited the zoo.

Why أداة استفهام بمعنــى (لمــاذا) وتستخــدم للســؤال عــن السـبب.

Why did you go to Giza? I went to Giza to see the pyramids.

Where أداة استفهام بمعنـى (أيـن) وتستخــدم للســؤال عــن المكــان.
Where did Ali go on holiday? He went to Luxor on holiday.

What أداة استفهام بمعنـى (مـا – مــاذا) وتستخـدم للســؤال عــن الأشيــاء
What did the crocodile eat? It ate a big fish.
